Annual Appeal 2025
The Connecticut Veterinary Medical Foundation (CVMF) has been fortunate to significantly grow our community assistance programs over the past year.
One of our most important initiatives is the Companion Assistance Program, which offers low-income Connecticut residents vouchers of up to $125 to help with the costs of veterinary care. In 2024, CVMF granted 402 vouchers to 294 Connecticut pet owners. As of September 2025, CVMF has granted 330 vouchers to 219 pet owners.
As more clinics and hospitals participate* and awareness of the program grows, CVMF relies on donations to ensure that the need is met and every pet in the state of Connecticut is able to receive necessary veterinary care.
CVMF has also experienced increased demand for our Companions in Crisis program, which provides temporary, safe shelter for animals affected by domestic violence-related relocations or other emergency situations. We work with local animal hospitals to board these pets in a secure and confidential manner.
Donations to CVMF help us administer this program and provide funding to partner hospitals for necessary veterinary medical expenses while the pets are in their care. You can learn more about all of our “safety net” services at www.petsafetyct.org.
The CVMF continues to promote safety and protection not only for pet owners, but also by training firefighters, first responders, and pre-veterinary students to respond to animal-related emergencies. With the support of CVMF-funded equipment, CVMA members host lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises to ensure the safety of large animals in hazardous situations. CVMF’s Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue (TLAER) is the only one of its kind in Connecticut, filling an essential need.
CVMF exists to make Connecticut a better place for animals and people. Please consider donating today to help fund pet safety and care in our state: https://petsafetyct.org/annual-appeal/.
